In the town of Fukutomi, Higashi-Hiroshima City, there is a share space called "Plate House".

For this interview, we spoke with Naoya Nakajima, the manager of Plat House.

The first floor of Plat House is an event space where local mothers and their children can play in peace, and neighbors sell boxed lunches in the shared kitchen twice a week. The second floor is also available for rent, and is currently occupied by a chiropractic salon.

Mr. Nakajima was a member of the Fukutomi Community Development Cooperation Volunteers for three years until March 2020.
During his involvement in the community, he became interested in the problem of the many vacant houses in Fukutomi, and decided to make it his life's work to solve this problem.

Connecting vacant houses with people who want to live in them. This will increase the number of immigrants and revitalize the region, and also turn vacant houses and underutilized real estate into something useful. To achieve this goal, he became a certified administrative scrivener.

Plat House is also meant to be a place for Mr. Nakajima to practice using vacant houses.

Mr. Nakajima wants Plat House to be a building that continues to grow with the community.
During his interview, I felt as if he was enjoying how the Plat House would be changing in the future.

The word "Plat" in Plate House means "to be able to drop by and get involved easily. He wants this to be a place where many people can gather and give shape to their "want to do".
Also wants to make it a gateway to the region and a place where people can interact with each other.

In the future, he would like to make Plat House a kind of "learning house" where people can learn something from the local people, valuing the relationship between the Community Development Cooperation Volunteers and Plat House.
